Maria leads ORC’s Operational Due Diligence practice and advises sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds, asset managers, custodians and other institutional investors on operational risk, manager selection, investment governance and best practice standards.

Before joining ORC, Maria was Research and Content Director at the Standards Board for Alternative Investments, where she worked with global regulators on emerging regulation, authored industry white papers and contributed to industry working groups covering responsible investment and digital assets.

Earlier in her career, Maria held senior roles at Man FRM, including Head of Middle Office Accounting and Operational Due Diligence Specialist. She has also worked at Northern Trust, Unigestion and Thames River Capital, with responsibilities spanning accounting operations, trade execution, valuations and client reporting.

Maria’s specialist expertise includes operational due diligence, ESG, investment governance, digital assets and the development of resilient institutional investment programs. She holds a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, specializing in Astronomy and Cosmology.
